Real-time wholesale power prices in New York shot over $200/MWh Monday morning as another winter storm brought low temperatures, ice and more snow to the region.

Real-time prices in the New York ISO's eastern regions of Zone G, Zone H, Zone I and Zone J jumped to over $240/MWh around 10:40 a.m. EST.

Demand in the NYISO was at about 21,916 MW, about 1,200 MW higher than the grid operator had forecast.

The morning demand was also close to the day's expected peak, which was forecast to occur around 6 p.m. EST during the evening ramp.

The NYISO's all-time winter record peak is 25,541 MW set in December 2004.

High temperatures across New York state are predicted to range from the upper teens to mid-30s Monday, with lows in the mid-teens to around 30.
