The countervailing duty applied to Mexican imports of cold-rolled coil from Russia and Kazakhstan was extended by five years after a review, Mexico's Ministry of Economy said Wednesday.

The duty is now valid through June 30, 2020, with quotas established at 15% for CRC originating in Russia and 22% for CRC produced in Kazakhstan, the same values established in the last review, in 2010.

Altos Hornos de Mexico (Ahmsa) and Ternium were the petitioners for the countervailing duty review. The time period under investigation was January 1, 2009, to December 31, 2013.

The product under investigation is cold-rolled steel sheet with a width equal to or larger than 600 mm and a thickness equal or greater than 0.5 mm but not exceeding 3 mm, under HS codes 7209.16.01 and 7209.17.01.

The countervailing duty was first applied in June 1999. In December 2005, the ministry renewed the decision for five additional years, with the review beginning in June 2004. The levy was again reviewed in December 2010, with the review beginning in June 2009.
