China's output of national 75% ferrosilicon totaled 3.03 million mt over January-August, down 11% year on year, the Taiwan Casting Industry Association said Monday.

The decline was attributed to the reduction in output in China's ferrosilicon production base in Qinghai in Gansu province, as well as the autonomous regions of Inner Mongolia and Ningxia Hui.

China's national siliconmanganese output over January-August totaled 6.84 million mt, down 2% year on year, the association said.

A supply surplus in the ferroalloy market and weak demand by steel producers who have continually asked for lower prices were the intensifying cuts to ferroalloy output, the association said in a report on its website.
