The US Department of Commerce on Friday issued an affirmative final determination in its antidumping investigation of rebar imports from Taiwan.

Lo-Toun Steel and Iron Works Co. received a 32.01% dumping margin, while Power Steel Co. and all other Taiwanese producers and exporters were issued a 3.50% final dumping margin, Commerce said.

Commerce will instruct US Customs and Border Protection to collect cash deposits from importers based on these final rates. The final duties will be formalized pending a final injury determination by the US International Trade Commission on or about September 5.

In 2016, imports of steel concrete reinforcing bar from Taiwan were valued at an estimated $53 million, according to Commerce.

The Rebar Trade Action Coalition and its individual members -- Byer Steel Group, Commercial Metals Co., Gerdau Long Steel North America, Nucor, and Steel Dynamics Inc. -- petitioned for antidumping duty investigations on rebar imports from Japan, Taiwan and Turkey and a countervailing duty investigation for Turkey on September 20, 2016.
