Total European power traded volume in December dropped more than 28% month on month as rise in Italy, Spain and Belgium failed to offset larger declines in the UK and other continental power markets, according to a London Energy Broker Association report published Tuesday.

Sharper declines were seen in the UK, German, French, Central and Eastern European over-the-counter volumes month-on month.
The UK power traded OTC volumes fell significantly 38.65% month on month to 52TWh, the German power followed similar pattern dropping 35.55% to 304 TWh.

French OTC traded volumes also fell over 25% on month to 46TWh, with Central and Eastern Europe falling more than 32% on month to 24 TWh.

Only Italian, Spanish and Belgian power traded month-on-month.

Italy was higher by over 5% on month to 41.51 TWh, Spanish power was up 6% to 13.57 TWh and Belgian power rose 2.83 TWh to 3 TWh.
