Dow Adds to Systems for Concrete Form Liners

BIRCH VALE, ENGLAND -- Dow Formulated Systems has launched additions to its Duramould polyurethane systems range for mould making, rapid prototyping, pattern-making and tooling.

Dow says these recently introduced hand-mixable Duramould ETM grades are aimed at manufacturers of form liners and can also be used for stamping pads for pre-cast and decorative concrete forms.

They offer low viscosity materials for room-temperature processing, “with extended gel times and optimized demold times,” allowing fine detail to be transferred from master to mould, Dow said in a news release. The finished molds offer a high resistance to abrasion, and improved cut and tear resistance, the company added.

The Duramould ETM range comes in four hardnesses, 30 50, 60 and 75A shore A, a range which helps the designer to select the most suitable product for a particular design. For deep-draw moulds at 30 shore A, the materials offer toughness and flexibility for multiple reproductions, while Duramould ETM 75A has good stiffness and low shrinkage allowing for detail and symmetry from the stamping pad, said Dow Formulated Systems.

The company said all the range gives ‘finger-print’ quality reproduction as a result of the easy mixing qualities of the system such as simple ratios, low viscosity, long pot life and excellent moisture tolerance.
