China: Zhejiang Spandex Manufacturers Intended to Raise Prices Largely due to Electricity Limit

Some spandex manufacturers in Zhejiang, China had gradually cut down operation rates or shut down due to electricity limit measures adopted in Zhejiang province. As a result, manufacturers reached an agreement to adjust upward prices by Rmb 1000-2000/ton.
The spandex capacities in Zhejiang province amounted to 186400 tons, occupying 53% of total domestic capacities, according to TX Investment Consulting Co. Ltd. Circular of the State Council on Further Strengthening Work to Ensure Realization of the "Eleventh Five-year" Goal of Energy Saving and Carbon Emission Reduction required high energy-consuming enterprises to shut down for 15-day maintenance or other measures to control electricity use.
In view of the spandex monthly prices and output trend from 2007 to 2009, output should still keep stable in slack season from July to August in spite of the declining prices.Print | add to Favorites | Close
