Operation rates of independent refineries in Shandong Province dropped to 39% Thursday, down 7 percentage points from one week ago, down 5 percentage points compared to a year earlier, C1's survey found.

Many refineries reduced run rates with bearish expectations on refining margins, according to refinery sources.

Changyi Petrochemical cut throughput by 7,000mt a day, Huaxing Petrochemical lowered 3,000mt a day and Hengyuan Petrochemical processed 1,000mt less daily.
As of Jul 22, a total of 25 independent refineries were in operation in Shandong, feedstock throughput of which added up to 59,000mt daily, down about 10,000mt on week.

The survey involves in 29 independent refineries, with annual oil refining capacities aggregating 5.25-mil mt, accounting for 86% of the total topping refineries of Shandong independent refineries.
