China: Dalian Wepec again cuts crude runs by 20% on unstable feedstock supply

Dalian Wepec had to again reduce crude throughput by 20% to 19,000mt a day (140 kbd), because of unstable crude supply caused by limited capacity of backup jetty, a source with the refinery told C1 Friday.
The refinery may continue to maintain low crude runs in the near term, which may affect oil product exports in August, the source reckoned, adding it was making a contingency plan for production suspension.
It is reported earlier, maintenance for the 300,000-DWT crude jetty at Dalian Xingang port was expected to last at least one month.
However, Dalian Wepec still ran 3-mil-mt/yr fluid catalytic cracker at high rates thanks to ample catalytic feedstock, which could last a week, according to the source.
C1 reported Thursday, Dalian Wepec lifted crude throughput to 24,000mt a day (170 kbd) after it took in crude via 100,000-DWT jetty, which was first transferred to Aframax tankers. It had no problem in shipping out oil products at present.
