Growth in the Argentinean automotive industry was helping heat up the
polypropylene market in that country, a source said today.
"The country's economy is doing well, helping the continued development
of the PP market within the automotive industry which is continually doing
better," added the source.
Polypropylene domestic offers in Argentina went down $50/mt over June,
and they were heard at $1,700-1,750/mt CIF for homo and at $1,800-1,850/mt CIF
for co-polymer.
For August, Argentinean domestic and export offers should be stable
following the US Gulf tendencies of increment in offer prices.
For the polypropylene Argentinean export market, July offers to Brazil,
Paraguay and Uruguay were heard at $1,650-1,670/mt FOB for homo raffia,
injection and film. This reflects an offer price decrease of $50/mt related to
June.
On the production side, the source stated that local PP production was
not affected by the gas scarcity being felt in Argentina caused by that
product's increased winter consumption.
