On March 22, Changhua Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. officially commissioned the world's first industrial-scale 80,000-ton-per-year low-temperature and low-pressure carbon dioxide polyether production facility at the Lianyungang Petrochemical Industrial Base within the National East-West Regional Cooperation Demonstration Zone (Xuwei New District, Lianyungang). This milestone signifies China's global leadership in the high-value utilization of carbon dioxide resources.

With a total investment of approximately 6 billion yuan and covering an area of about 659 acres, the project adopts a phased construction approach, with an overall planned annual production capacity of carbon dioxide polyether reaching 1.06 million tons. The newly operational 80,000-ton facility represents a core achievement by Changhua Chemical, leveraging cross-border technological collaboration and independent innovation. Utilizing its unique low-temperature and low-pressure preparation process, the company has successfully overcome the technical barriers to large-scale production of carbon dioxide polyether, offering a new technological pathway for the development of green chemical materials.

Upon reaching full production capacity, the project is expected to utilize approximately 300,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually. By converting industrial waste gas and carbon emission reduction pressures into high-value, recyclable carbon resources, it transforms waste into treasure and turns carbon into gold, providing a replicable model for the low-carbon transformation of the chemical industry.

At the commissioning ceremony, Gu Renfa, Chairman of Changhua Chemical, highlighted that the facility’s operation marks three core breakthroughs for both the company and the industry: first, achieving global technological leadership by independently defining industrial production standards for carbon dioxide polyether and securing a leading position in the green chemical materials sector; second, completing a dual upgrade in both philosophy and technology, shifting from passive carbon reduction to active carbon utilization, and opening new avenues for the efficient resource utilization of carbon dioxide; and third, deeply participating in the restructuring of the global chemical industry through independent green technology, demonstrating the innovative strength and responsibility of Chinese chemical enterprises.

Gu Renfa emphasized that green and low-carbon practices are the core competitiveness of enterprises, while technological innovation is the industry’s voice. This philosophy remains central to Changhua Chemical’s sustainable development. Moving forward, the company will leverage its Lianyungang base as a global business hub, continuously increase R&D investment, steadily expand production capacity, and enhance efficiency. By empowering social development with green chemical technology and serving global markets with original Chinese innovations, Changhua Chemical is committed to fulfilling the mission of a green chemical enterprise in this era.
