A liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier bound for India successfully sailed out of the Strait of Hormuz. This marks the first time in months since the outbreak of the conflict in Iran that India has resumed receiving LNG shipments from the Persian Gulf, with regional suppliers quietly resuming supplies to key clients.

Ship tracking information indicates that the vessel Al Hamra, owned by ADNOC Logistics & Services, is fully loaded with gas and heading to the western region of India. The ship had turned off its positioning system on April 19, when it was waiting empty on the eastern side of the Strait of Hormuz.

Shipping analytics firm Kpler noted that during the period when the ship went off the radar, it completed loading operations at the Das Island terminal in the Persian Gulf. Currently, LNG vessels are still docked at this terminal, and all related ships have concealed their navigation position information.

Data shows that in previous years, India relied on Qatar and the UAE for over half of its LNG imports, but relevant shipping routes have been largely suspended in recent months. Following a significant reduction in gas supply, India has had to procure spot gas at high prices while reducing industrial gas supply quotas.
