SunSirs: Domestic Propylene Oxide Market Surges; Upstream Propylene Prices Rise from High Levels
The domestic propylene oxide market saw a sharp rise yesterday, with major manufacturers in Shandong and East China raising their quotes by 500–600 RMB/ton compared to the previous trading day. Currently, mainstream ex-factory prices in Shandong are being negotiated around 9,200 RMB/ton, while delivered prices (cash terms) in East China are hovering around 9,200–9,300 RMB/ton. Prices for the feedstock propylene have climbed further from already high levels, driven by a surge in international oil prices amidst the Middle East situation; meanwhile, some production units continue to operate at reduced rates, keeping factory inventory pressure low. Bolstered by strong cost support and a determination among suppliers to maintain high prices, mainstream ex-factory rates have surged. Although downstream buyers remain in a wait-and-see mode, the market shows a tendency to rise rather than fall in the short term, prompting some buyers to gradually increase their procurement volumes.
As an integrated internet platform providing benchmark prices, On July 16, the benchmark price for propylene oxide (tracked by SunSirs) stood at 9,200.00 RMB/ton, marking a 19.48% increase compared to the beginning of the month (7,700.00 RMB/ton).
