On August 14, 2026, the Supreme People's Procuratorate released authoritative news stating that the case of Chen Wei, former General Manager of Sinopec Sales Co., Ltd. Hebei Petroleum Branch, suspected of embezzlement and bribery, has been prosecuted by the procuratorial organs in Inner Mongolia in accordance with the law.

According to the announcement, the case was investigated and concluded by the Supervision Commission of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and then transferred to the procuratorial organs for review and prosecution. Upon designation by the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Chifeng City People's Procuratorate has filed a public prosecution with the Chifeng City Intermediate People's Court in accordance with the law. The case is currently undergoing further processing.

During the review and prosecution stage, the procuratorial organs guaranteed the various litigation rights of the defendant Chen Wei in accordance with the law, informed him of his statutory rights, interrogated the defendant in accordance with the law, and listened to the relevant opinions of the defense counsel.

The Chifeng City People's Procuratorate alleges in the indictment that the defendant, Chen Wei, as a state functionary, took advantage of his position to collude with others to illegally possess public property, involving a huge amount; meanwhile, he took advantage of his position and the convenient conditions formed by his own powers and status to seek benefits for others and illegally accept property from others, involving an extraordinarily huge amount. The procuratorial organs believe that Chen Wei's actions have violated the Criminal Law and his criminal responsibility should be pursued for the crimes of embezzlement and bribery in accordance with the law.
