Recently, after the global spin-off and independent listing of the former BASF Coatings business, multiple domestic operating entities of Surventis have been collectively  industrial and commercial name changes. Some enterprises are in a transitional state of "name changed, but equity has not yet been synchronously switched".

Meanwhile, Surventis is accelerating its localized innovation layout and has reached a strategic cooperation agreement with Dalian Nasida, a domestic spraying equipment enterprise, to focus on the intelligent spraying track in the automotive aftermarket.

On July 23, 2026, BASF Shanghai Coatings Co., Ltd. was officially renamed Surventis (Shanghai) Coatings Co., Ltd.

Founded in 1995 with a registered capital of approximately 609 million yuan, this is one of the early joint venture coating enterprises that BASF deployed in the Chinese market, and has long supplied coatings to joint venture car manufacturers such as SAIC Volkswagen and SAIC GM.

As of August 26, industrial and commercial information from Tianyancha shows that the company's shareholders have not yet completed the change. It is still held 60% by BASF Coatings Co., Ltd. and 40% by Shanghai Huayi Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd., remaining in the transitional stage of "name changed but equity unchanged".

This situation is a true reflection of the restructuring of market entities in the Chinese market after the global divestiture of BASF's coatings business.

On July 1, 2026, the former BASF Coatings business division officially began independent operations under the new brand Surventis in Münster, Germany. Public information shows that Surventis has annual sales of about 3.9 billion euros, employs approximately 10,700 people, has more than 30 production and R&D bases worldwide, operates in over 140 countries, serves more than 42,000 customers, owns well-known brands including Chemetall®, Glasurit®, R‑M®, and has over 130 years of heritage in the coatings and surface treatment industry. In terms of equity, the Carlyle Group and the Qatar Investment Authority hold the main equity of Surventis, while BASF retains a 40% stake.

On the domestic market front, multiple subsidiaries of Surventis have completed industrial and commercial changes intensively since July. On July 8, BASF Coatings Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was renamed Surventis Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and its shareholders were changed to Bond German BidCo 2 GmbH, a special acquisition vehicle established by the Carlyle Group in Germany. Its registered address was also adjusted within the same park, and the change of the legal entity drove the restructuring of the entire system including contracts, taxation and customs registration.

On July 17, BASF Coatings (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. was renamed Surventis Coatings (Guangdong) Co., Ltd., and the enterprise became wholly owned by Bond German BidCo 2 GmbH. On July 31, BASF (Shanghai) Coatings Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was changed to Surventis (Shanghai) Coatings Manufacturing Co., Ltd. In August, BASF Coatings (Changchun) Co., Ltd. completed its renaming to Surventis Coatings (Changchun) Co., Ltd., and its shareholders were changed to Surventis (Shanghai) Coatings Co., Ltd. The Changchun base serves the northern market, mainly providing services to car manufacturers such as FAW-Volkswagen and FAW Toyota.

The completion of a series of industrial and commercial changes marks the accelerated establishment of Surventis' China operation framework. After脱离ing BASF's brand endorsement, this independent coatings enterprise is looking for new growth paths, and intelligent cross-border cooperation has become an important starting point.

On August 13, Surventis signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Dalian Nasida Automotive Equipment Co., Ltd. The two sides will focus on "material-robot collaboration, process-equipment integration", jointly iterate the next generation of embodied intelligent spraying robots, and jointly create high-end intelligent spraying solutions for the Chinese automotive aftermarket.

Dalian Nasida is a core enterprise in the domestic automotive spraying robot track and a "hidden champion" in the automotive maintenance equipment field. Aiming at the industry pain points such as the aging of paint repair technicians and prominent occupational health risks in the paint repair industry, the enterprise has independently developed fully automatic automotive spraying repair robots, holding patents in China, the United States, Europe and other regions. Its products have been at domestic leading automotive brand stores, and its overseas business covers South Korea, Germany, France, Italy, Australia and other countries.

According to the cooperation plan, the two parties will define equipment parameters through material technology and implement process standards through intelligent equipment, combining the process accumulation of Glasurit® with the independent R&D technical system of Dalian Nasida. Relying on Dalian Nasida's AI-driven operation system, the robot will complete 3D modeling of the vehicle body through 3D cameras, automatically generate spraying trajectories by matching the cloud vehicle model database, and achieve uniform spraying without special tooling; Surventis will provide high-performance coating systems and color matching technology to support the robot's operation with materials and process standards.

Industry data shows that the global market size of automatic spraying robot complete systems reached 4.6 billion US dollars in 2025, and is expected to grow to 11.15 billion US dollars by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate of 13.5% from 2025 to 2032. The Asia-Pacific region is the largest global market, and automotive complete vehicles and parts are the core application scenarios. With the tightening of environmental protection policies, the expansion of new energy vehicles, rising labor costs and the iteration of AI vision technology, spraying automation has become a common development trend for the coatings and equipment industries. Industry analysts believe that the in-depth binding between coating enterprises and domestic intelligent equipment enterprises will bring new technological transformation directions to the automotive after-sales spraying industry.
