Tropical Storm Warning: Chemical and oil refining production along the southern U.S. coast may be disrupted

HOUSTON (ICIS) — A tropical disturbance system has emerged in the waters of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, and is expected to make landfall on Tuesday and impact coastal areas, which may bring storm impacts to petrochemical plants and refinery facilities along the coasts of Texas and Louisiana, posing staged disruption risks to regional energy and chemical production operations.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center updated its warning information at 10 a.m. Central Daylight Time on Monday (15:00 UTC), officially issuing a tropical storm warning for the northwestern coast of the Gulf of Mexico. The warning covers coastal areas stretching from Port Bolivar in Texas in the east to the border coast of Vermilion-Cameron Parish in Louisiana in the west.

According to meteorological definitions, this tropical storm warning means that coastal areas within the warning range will experience full tropical storm conditions within the next 24 to 36 hours, and severe weather such as strong winds and heavy rainfall will directly affect the densely laid-out oil refining and chemical production facilities locally, and there is a possibility of staged fluctuations in the regional chemical supply chain, raw material processing and oil product output rhythm.
