Today over 300 representatives of stakeholder organisations around the world participate in the first Stakeholders´ Day of the European Chemicals Agency. The event takes place at Finlandia Hall in Helsinki.

In his opening speech, the Executive Director of ECHA Geert Dancet emphasized: “For ECHA, openness and engagement towards its various external partners is critical. One important channel for dialogue is the recurring Stakeholders’ Day. The main aims of the Day are to provide the partners the latest news and an opportunity where ECHA listens to their feedback and proposals.”

During the morning session, up-to-date information on pre-registration, registration and the forthcoming candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern is presented. ECHA reports the current state of play while industry provides insights in their experiences.

The afternoon session is devoted to the theme of ECHA’s dialogue and engagement with its stakeholders. During this session ECHA collects stakeholders’ feed-back and identifies ways to enhance its activities with external partners.

During the day the participants can also put questions to ECHA experts at various information desks.

The next Stakeholders´ Day will take place in connection with the Helsinki Chemicals Forum on 27 May 2009.
