The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published today information specifying how to sign up company in REACH-IT and how to submit preregistrations of single substance via the REACH-IT portal to the Agency as of 1 June. Practical guidance is available in the updated REACH-IT section of the ECHA website.

Geert Dancet, Executive Director of ECHA, said that “Our highest priority over the past 12 months has been to ensure that companies will be able to fulfil their obligations from 1 June this year. The launch of the REACH-IT portal on Saturday night is the most visible step in making ECHA operational”.

The “REACH-IT” web section on the ECHA website has been upgraded to include practical advice on how a company can sign up, and how it can submit preregistrations via the REACH-IT portal. The information leaflet Release 2 covers all relevant REACH processes and data submission steps. The leaflet can be downloaded from the ECHA website in PDF format.

Sign up/Account creation: The identification of the companies (legal entity name, contact detail and billing information) must be done online via the REACH-IT portal. Each company must sign-up and create an account in REACH-IT to receive a Universal Unique Identifier code (company UUID). This code is a pre-requisite for data submission to ECHA to ensure that all data submissions can be linked to the right company identity code in ECHA. It applies to pre-registration and the temporary procedures for PPORD notification, inquiry and registration.

Pre-registration: Data for a pre-registration of a single substance can be entered and submitted online via the REACH-IT portal. A pre-registration of several substances in one file (bulk pre-registration) will be available at a later stage.
