REACH-IT IMPROVED TO FACILITATE SIEF FORMATION

https://www.chemnet.com   Jan 26,2009
Today, ECHA has updated REACH-IT by improving searches and messaging modules. The improvements are expected to increase the availability and stability of the system so that companies can form SIEFs. ECHA is currently monitoring the impact of these changes and continues implementing additional improvements to further enhance the performance of REACH-IT.

ECHA has installed an upgraded version of REACH-IT. The improvements in the new version focus on optimising a number of searches and the internal messaging within the pre-SIEFs that were identified to slow down the system severely and led to error messages. The searches on submitted dossiers have been amended and the automated generation of internal pre-SIEF messages has been removed. An alternative system to provide information on changes within a pre-SIEF has been introduced.

Today’s update is a step in resolving the performance issues of the new version of REACH-IT installed in early January. The aim of the update is to make the system more stable for SIEF formation. ECHA will implement additional measures over the coming weeks based on the results of an in-depth analysis of all reported issues. It is important to emphasise that due to increased number of operations in the system (company sign-up, messaging, submission of all dossier types, invoicing, searches, late pre-registration, etc.) ECHA must carry out substantial testing before any further changes will be introduced in REACH-IT.

The issues ECHA is currently working on to improve the system performance include:
• Optimising the viewing of a pre-SIEF and downloading of the pre-SIEF XML files
• Optimising searches related to the pre-registrations and pre-SIEFs
• Removing internal messages from the system that were previously generated by the pre-SIEFs

These solutions will be implemented progressively over the next few weeks. New updates of the
system will be announced in News Alerts and on the ECHA website.

Companies are assured that dossiers they submit will be processed by ECHA to the normal deadlines.
