PetroChina Dalian Petrochemical has suspended slurry production owing to 45-day maintenance of a catalytic unit as from Mar 7, according to trading sources in East China.

The refinery will resume slurry production in the second half of April, said some sources.

This has not been confirmed by sources with Dalian Petrochemical.

Dalian Petrochemical usually produces 60,000-70,000mt of slurry per month, which is major blendstock for fuel oil in southern coastal areas. Such slurry has relatively high metal content and is mainly used to blend 180CST fuel oil for boilers. Incomplete data shows that over 50% of the slurry that East China-based blenders use to blend 180CST fuel oil for boilers is from Dalian Petrochemical.

Dalian Petrochemical has 20.5-mil mt of annual topping capacity, the largest among Chinese refineries.
