Sinopec Yanshan Petchem to restart long-idled 1.2-mil-mt/yr FCC

In face of gasoline supply tightness, Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical is scheduled to restart a long-idled 1.2-mil-mt/yr fluid catalytic cracker within this week, a refinery source told C1.

The refinery's crude throughput would thus rise to 1-mil mt in March, up 50,000mt or 5% from scheduled, according to the source.

The 1.2-mil-mt/yr FCC was shut in 2009 after 2-year operation, C1's data showed.

Yanshan Petrochemical, located in North China's Beijing City, has a crude processing capacity of 13.5-mil mt per year; however, it kept a 2.5-mil-mt/yr crude distillate unit idled from June 2007. The refinery is able to produce Euro IV oil products.
