Operation rates of major refineries in China averaged 84.8% on Apr 21, slightly up 2.12 percentage points from two weeks ago, down 1.9 percentage points compared with a year earlier, C1's research showed.

Dalian Wepec is yet to resume normal operation after wrapping up turnaround mid-April. Fushun Petrochemical delayed restart of 1.5-mil-mt/yr residue fluid catalytic cracker to Apr 30. Guangzhou Petrochemical, which has just completed maintenance of 5.2-mil-mt/yr crude distillate unit and some secondary units, will not resume normal crude runs until next week.

The above figures were obtained through computation on the basis of primary refining capacities of refineries. If calculated on the basis of their complex refining ratio, the average run rate would be about 91.03%, up 2.28 percentage points from two weeks ago.

C1’s research involves in 23 refineries with annual refining capacities aggregating 281-mil mt.
