Brazil's Braskem increased its polypropylene offers to Andean Countries and Central America $250/mt for May supported by raw material price increases, a company source said.

"Propylene prices in Brazil are going up in May following the European and US contract price movements with a month lag, and we felt it was a good moment to pass the increases in offers for the next month," said the source.

After the hike, Brazilian polypropylene offers to Central America and Andean Countries were heard at $2,150/mt CFR for homo raffia, injection and film, $2,200/mt CFR for co-polymer and at $2,250/mt CFR for random.

For polyethylene, Braskem kept offers stable for May with more product available for export.

"We are starting the month with the same offers, but we are going to have to study prices for May H2. Availability for export is better now for some grades like LDPE, but we are still restricted for LLDPE and even more restricted for HDPE injection," added the source.

May Brazilian polyethylene offers were heard at $1,900/mt CFR for LDPE film, $1,570/mt CFR for HDPE blowmolding, $1,600/mt CFR for uni-modal HDPE film, $1,640/mt CFR for bi-modal HDPE film and at $1,650/mt CFR for LLDPE butene.
