Taiwan’s Formosa to halt 500,000-600,000mt/yr base oil unit for maintenance in late May

Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical set to put its Mailiao Refinery-based 500,000-600,000mt/yr Group II base oil unit into weeklong maintenance over a minor unit glitch in late May, a company source told C1.

The company's May exports, estimated at 45,000mt, would remain intact from the brief shutdown, he pointed out.

Thereinto, supplies to Mainland China would keep flat with April at 30,000mt, he said. These cargoes would mainly flow into long-term contracted buyers rather than the spot market, he added.

As for June supplies, the company had not settled down specific volumes, he said.

Formosa last shut down the base oil unit for 3-day maintenance in early to mid March because of unit glitch.
