Petrol stations subsidiary to Sinopec and PetroChina will exclusively offer GB IV gasoline in Nanjing City of East China's Jiangsu Province from Jun 1, according to sources with sales branches of the two majors.

The fuel will become available from private and foreign petrol stations there a month later, revealed the sources.

It is unknown whether retail prices would be raised at the same time, the sources said.

In theory, retail prices of GB IV gasoline are Yuan 0.2-0.4/liter higher than GB III grades, C1 estimated.

Nanjing will become the fifth city in China implementing GB IV vehicle emission standard after Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, where retail prices of gasoline were all not immediately lifted after quality upgradation.

Sinopec Jinling Petrochemical will be in charge of producing GB IV gasoline, which records normal production at present.

PetroChina will deliver GB IV gasoline to Nanjing from northern refineries.
With the capital city Nanjing as the pilot area, Jiangsu will popularize GB IV gasoline to the other areas of South Jiangsu and then the whole province in the future, the sources also said.

An informed source told C1 that Jiangsu plans to spread use of GB IV gasoline by Jun 1, 2012.

GB IV gasoline standard requires sulfur content at 50ppm, versus 150ppm for GB III standard.
