PetroChina Fushun Petrochemical plans to process 550,000mt of crude in May, sharply up 18% from the previous month, a refinery source told C1.

The refinery is expected to keep daily throughput at 15,000mt in the first half of May because of hefty stock of FCC feedstock, the source said, adding the throughput would rise to 21,000mt in the second half month.

Fushun Petrochemical restarted 1.5-mil-mt/yr residue fluid catalytic cracker on May 2, the source also revealed.

Fushun Petrochemical, located in Fushun City of Northeast China's Liaoning Province, has three subsidiary refineries, with the No. 1 refinery closed end February. It mainly refines domestic Daqing crude and Liaohe crude. The refinery is capable of producing 180,000mt per year of ethylene. It is expected to wrap up construction of 800,000-mt/yr ethylene unit this December and bring it on stream in June 2012.
