Petrol stations under Sinopec, PetroChina and CNOOC petrol stations in East China's Nanjing plan to supply gasoline that all meets GB (national standards) IV as from Oct 1, C1 learned.

According to this plan, Nanjing will become the sixth Chinese city to implement GB-IV vehicle emission standards, after Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan.

Sinopec's petrol stations in Nanjing will obtain GB-IV gasoline from its Jinling Petrochemical, PetroChina's service stations will get such products from its refineries in northern China, and CNOOC's will get supply from CNOOC Shanghai.

Oil majors said they will supply such gasoline to the wholesale market in Nanjing after replacing all of their local petrol stations’ gasoline with GB-IV products.

Oil giants plan to expand the sales of GB-IV gasoline to the rest of southern Jiangsu Province after Nanjing, and then to the whole province. Under their plans, they will supply such gasoline throughout the province as from Jun 1, 2012.

Retail prices of GB-IV gasoline are Yuan 0.2-0.4/L higher than those of GB-III products, as the production costs of GB-IV gasoline are Yuan 300-400/mt higher, C1 estimated.

Previously oil majors planned to begin supplying GB-IV gasoline in Nanjing on Jun 1, but this plan was delayed, perhaps because of higher costs, C1 reported earlier this year.

GB-IV gasoline contains 50ppm of sulfur content, versus 150ppm for GB-III products.
