China's Fujian Meide Petrochemical plans to start operations at a new propane dehydrogenation unit at Fujian city, Fujian Province, in 2014, said US' UOP late last week.

UOP said it will provide the technology for the PDH unit, which will have a design capacity of 660,000 mt/year of propylene.

"China's propylene consumption accounts for more than 15% of worldwide demand and is growing at about 5% to 6% per year, said UOP's parent Honeywell.

UOP will provide engineering design, technology licensing, catalysts, adsorbents, equipment, staff training and technical service for the project, Honeywell said.

Fujian Meide Petrochemical is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Packing Group.
