The May US contract price for acetone settled initially in a rollover at 58.50 cents/lb ($1,289.69/mt), sources said Tuesday.

The US acetone contract typically settles retroactively.

"The settlement is not industry-wide yet," one market participant said. Producer confirmation was not immediately available.

A second market source stated that, "methyl methacyrlate demand [contract acetone] for producers is pretty strong."

Spot acetone prices have held firm over May, last assessed May 21 at 60 cents/lb ($1,477.08//mt) FOB USG amid tight supply and steady demand and heard around 60 cents/lb FOB USG Tuesday.

The April contract price settled previously down 7.5 cents/lb ($165.35/mt) from March at 58.50 cents/lb on lower feedstock refinery-grade propylene prices.
