Lanxess Expands Its Aromatics Network

Lanxess has completed a ?5m ($42m) expansion of its unit for monochlorobenzene, cresols and derivatives in Leverkusen, Germany.



With the last expansion stage completed, overall production capacity has increased by up to 60% at three Leverkusen plants.




The specialty chemicals group is also planning to invest a further ?50m ($184m) in Germany this year, of which ?0m ($73m) will be invested into its main Leverkusen site.




The Lanxess aromatics network includes a total of seven large-scale plants, mostly in Leverkusen, and with further finishing stages in Krefeld-Uerdingen, Dormagen and Brunsbüttel, a capacity of nearly 300,000tpa.
