Minor refineries in South China's Guangdong Province ran at 15% on average Thursday, down 2 percentage points from one week ago, 3 percentage points higher than a year earlier, a survey found.
Foshan Ruifeng Refinery had to lower utilization rate because of feedstock shortage, leading to the fall.
Five refineries were in operation at present, with feedstock throughput totaling 5,350mt per day, down 400mt on week.
More refineries might suffer from feedstock shortfall in the near future, as the customs has strengthened inspection on imports of cutback bitumen, major feedstock for the refineries, market sources denoted.
Titan's Xiaohudao oil terminal held only 30,000-50,000mt of cutback bitumen stock at present, according to an informed source.
Guangdong has 17 minor refineries, all of which are involved in the survey. Refining capacities of these refineries amount to 12.65-mil mt per year, with Sanshui Santai Asphalt's 200,000-mt/yr visbreaking unit on-stream early August.
