Saudi International Petrochemical Co. or Sipchem plans to build a 100,000 mt/year ethyl acetate/butyl acetate swing plant at its complex in Jubail
Industrial City, the company announced Wednesday.

The plant was slated to be commissioned during 2013, and Sipchem has signed an agreement with France's Rhodia to build it.

It also has agreements on technology license, marketing and ethanol procurement with Rhodia.

Acetic acid feedstock would come from Sipchem's majority-owned 450,000 mt/year AA plant at the same complex, which was completed end 2009.

The AA plant at Jubail is operated by International Acetyl Company, which is majority-owned by Sipchem (87%), with 10% held by Helm Arabia and the remaining 3% by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Endowments.
