Croatia's Dioki interested in Vinyls Italia investment: ministry

Croatian polymer producer Dioki may be interested in investing in Vinyls Italia, Italy's vice-secretary of economic development Stefano Saglia said in
a note on the ministry website Friday.

Dioki signaled its intention to "invest in the Italian chemical sector" in a meeting with the ministry Wednesday, the note said. Nobody was immediately available at Dioki to confirm the details.

Italy's Economic Development Ministry drew up a new international tender including supply guarantees from state-controlled oil major Eni in an effort
to push through the stalled sale of polyvinyl chloride maker Vinyls Italia.

A previous attempt to sell the assets fell through in May when Qatari engineering and construction company Ramco Trading and Contracting pulled out
of the negotiations.

Vinyls Italia, which formerly belonged to UK's Ineos, went into receivership in May last year, forcing the closure of production facilities at Ravenna, Porto Marghera and Porto Torres, all in Italy.

The new tender will be published in local and national press in the last week of August and will contain guarantees that Eni will supply vital raw material and cede necessary assets to ensure a restart of the plants, the ministry said on its website.

Zagreb-based Dioki specializes in the production of polymers polyethylene and polystyrene.
