PetroChina Hohhot Petrochemical arranged to process 111,000mt of crude in August, flat with the previous month, said a refinery source.

The refinery's 5-mil-mt/yr oil refining capacity expansion project has already been underway, expected to come on stream in 2012, the source revealed.

As reported previously, Hohhot Petrochemical passed environment assessment for the above-mentioned project in July 2009. It would construct 8-mil-mt/yr Changqing-Hohhot Crude Pipeline to guarantee stable supply.

According to a survey, the 5-mil-mt/yr capacity expansion project includes 10 refining units and a 150,000-mt/yr polypropylene unit, capable of producing a combined 4.64-mil mt of gasoline, gasoil, LPG and chemicals.

Hohhot Petrochemical, located in Hohhot City of Inner Mongolia, is equipped with a 1.5-mil-mt/yr crude distillate unit and 900,000mt/yr fluid catalytic cracker currently.
