China: CNGC Huajin Chemicals resumes operation

Huajin Chemical, a refinery subsidiary to the China Northern Industries Group Corporation, restarted its units on Aug 8, but it has not yet yielded products nor resumed the supply so far, a source with the refinery said.

Prices of some downstream products rebounded since late July, tracking gains in international crude prices, which stimulated the refinery to be back into operation, according to the source.

A reported earlier, Huajin Chemicals went into overall turnaround on Jul 20 due to dull sales of products.

Huajin Chemicals, located in Panjin City of Northeast China's Liaoning Province, has a topping capacity of 5-mil mt per year. It is capable of producing 700,000mt of ethylene and over 3-mil mt of other petrochemicals annually, of which gasoil is a major kind of petroleum product. It supplies most of its gasoil to PetroChina, with just a little available for the others.
