China's July coal exports up 12.1% on-year

China exported 1.39 million mt of coal in July, up 12.1% on a year earlier and 9.4% higher than in June, according to preliminary figures released by China Customs Tuesday.
In January-July of 2010, China exported a total 11.53 million mt of coal,down 10.8% from the 12.92 million mt shipped out in January-July last year.
China's coke exports in July were 590,000 mt, up from 50,000 mt in July 2009, and the 560,000 mt exported in June.
The country exported 1.98 million mt of coke in the first seven months of2010, up from 280,000 mt in the equivalent year-earlier period.
July import figures for coal have yet to be disclosed. In the first half of 2010, China was a net coal importer by 70.95 million mt with imports at 81.09 million mt and exports at 10.14 million mt, as previously reported.
