Polish H1 coal exports total 1.5 mil mt, down 28%: Weglokoks

Polish thermal and coking coal exports on both land and sea totaled 1.5 million mt in the first half, down 28% year on year, data from state-controlled coal exporter Weglokoks showed.

The country exported 1.1 million mt of thermal coal from January to June, down 38.9%, with the biggest drop in seaborne thermal coal exports, down 73.4% to 303,500 mt.

Second-quarter seaborne thermal coal exports dropped 62.7% from Q1 and were down 86.4% from Q2 last year.

Inland thermal coal exports out of Poland were 785,800 mt in the first half, up 22.5% over the same period a year ago, the data showed.

Exports of Polish hard coking coal -- all delivered inland -- over the first half of 2017 were 371,200 mt, up 52%.
