According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of bromine had been consolidating this week. The average market price at the beginning of the week was 20,180 RMB/ton, and the average market price over the weekend was 20,100 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.4% and an increase of 3.61% compared to the same period last year.
On July 28th, the bromine commodity index was 70.53 points, unchanged from the previous day, down 71.23% from the highest point of 245.18 points (2021-10-27) during the cycle, and up 19.70% from the lowest point of 58.92 points on October 29, 2014. (Note: The cycle refers to the period from September 1, 2011 to present)
Analysis review
This week, the price of bromine had been running weakly, with prices in Shandong region running weakly. The mainstream market price was around 19,500-20,500 RMB/ton, and the overall supply was stable with sufficient supply. The production and demand for downstream flame retardants of bromine were generally average, and the demand for agriculture and intermediates was also average. In terms of raw materials, domestic sulfur prices had remained stable, with an average market price of 1,260 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 1,265 RMB/ton over the weekend. The price had increased by 0.4%, which was 48.24% higher than the same period last year. Downstream procurement was mainly based on demand.
Market outlook
The price of bromine had been running weakly recently, with upstream sulfur prices consolidating. Downstream flame retardant production of bromine was average, and agricultural and intermediate demand was average. Demand was mainly based on on-demand procurement. The comprehensive supply-demand game predicts that bromine may continue to consolidate in the later period, depending on downstream market demand.
