31 July 2007 - Thermotec Plastics is the new name for Sertec Plastics, effective 2 July. The company will continue to operate from its existing premises in Witton, Birmingham.
Sertec Plastics was acquired from Sertec Group Holdings, which specialises in metal pressings for the automotive trade, by Thermotec owner and managing director Mike McDonough in April last year. He stresses that it is business as usual, despite the name change, the emphasis remaining on lean manufacturing, high quality and customer satisfaction.
Thermotec is approved to ISO/TS16949 and ISO14001. It has 44 staff operating from 3,250 sq metre premises and a turnover of £3.5-4.0m
Production is based on five vacuum forming machines, ranging in size up to 2,700mm x 2,500mm, and a PU foam machine fitted with a mini head. Other production equipment includes CNC routers, a Fanuc robot 6-axis trim cell and dedicated assembly cells.
Thermotec produces over 300 different components, ranging from ashtrays and wheel arch liners to light clusters and exterior panels, for customers such as Aston Martin Lagonda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Renault and JCB. It offers prototype and pre-production facilities and a full concept to volume supply service.
Operations director Robert Parsons told PRW.com that PU processing is becoming an increasingly important element in the company’s activities. He says the Witton premises provide plenty of scope for future expansion.Print | add to Favorites | Close
