20 August 2007--Chemical Process Solutions has entered into joint venture partnership with Schwaben Kunstoff of Germany to manufacture thermoplastic vessels of up to 80m3 and 3.5m in diameter.
CPS, a maker of supply tanks, pumps and heat exchangers, is one of the UK’s largest makers of helically-wound thermoplastic vessels. CPS supplies mainly to the chemical, pharma, water and waste treatment, electronics and the food and brewing sectors.
The agreement, which was set up in July, sees CPS importing long tubes of helically-wound thermoplastic tubing from Schwaben Kunstoff from which CPS will design and manufacture vessels up to 30m3.
David Paige, director and co-founder of CPS about seven years ago, told PRW.com that for dimensions above 30m3 the vessels will be imported finished from Germany.
CPS will also stock-hold a range of standard vessels made by Kunstoff. However, there are no plans for CPS to export to Germany through Kunstoff.
“There will be a small investment in extrusion equipment at our Seaham, County Durham, site,” said Paige.
However, CPS is already looking around for larger premises with better crane and access facilities, explained Paige.
CPS currently employs 16 people at its 6,000 square foot Seaham site.
The agreement with Kunstoff comes as CPS ended a previous agreement with a manufacturer of tubing when the maker decided to cease production in the UK.
